Meet and Confer
The
County has not finalized the agreement in MOU format or received formal
approval by the Board of Supervisors. We
will report the details on the finalized agreement in the newsletter. Marie has finalized a similar agreement with
the Courts.
Membership Picnic
The
picnic was Saturday, June 28 at the Sutter/Yuba fairgrounds. Approximately 250 attended the event. It was necessary to cancel the jump house
because of the excessive liability insurance cost. The ticket sales money was used as door
prizes. We were fortunate to have
relatively good weather and clear skies.
The
Dress Code
During
negotiations, the County and YCEA agreed to a dress code. This matter was raised in negotiations
because a number of departments for developing their own dress policies. The Health and Human Services Department has
decided to apply the Dress Code and after meeting with YCEA have produced
guidelines for training and clarification.
We are distributing a copy of the guidelines to our site Representatives
because they will likely be the foundation language for countywide
guidelines. Once the countywide
guidelines are finalized, any department guidelines will be discontinued.
Shop Steward Training
We
are holding Shop Steward Training on Thursday, July 24, 2008. If you are interested in becoming a full shop
Steward, please plan to attend.
President Ryan will make the final appointments once this training is
completed. We are hopeful that a final
draft copy of the Master Labor Agreement will be available to those attending
the Shop Steward Training.
Yuba
Trial Court
YCEA
has reached full tentative agreement with Yuba County Trial Court for a
successor agreement. The agreement is
for one year and provides a 4% salary adjustment. Business Agent Marie Clark served as the chief
negotiator for YCEA. Erika Kehoe and
Disciplinary Actions
YCEA's
is currently monitoring two general investigations involving our members. Our
member resigned for medical reasons, which resolved the dismissal case
previously mentioned.
CalPERS Health Insurance
Previously we reported
that CalPERS decided that their reserves were sufficient to maintain the
current premiums and benefit structure for calendar year 2009. Later we learned this information was correct
for the PPO plans, but that an 8% adjusted will apply to the Kaiser Plan. For
specific information, regarding plan premiums and structure refer to the
CalPERS web site www.calpers.ca.gov.
