To YCEA Members,
Your YCEA Board and staff have carefully considered all the pros and cons before recommending your deferral of the County assuming responsibility for the CalPERS 7% Employee Contribution. Your Board's decision was not made lightly or without serious debate. We have made a strong effort to schedule multiple meetings at different times and different locations to ensure to the greatest degree possible that the membership has an opportunity to vote on this important matter.
We are also trying to ensure that
our members have all the information necessary to make an informed decision and
that your questions are answered to the fullest extent possible. We understand
that we are asking you to sacrifice by deferring our contract provision for one
year. Your Board has made it clear that they will not support a deferral beyond
July 1, 2010. While we are asking you to support this decision and to make
the sacrifice, please keep in mind that there are also benefits to you in
making this decision.
To answer some of your additional
questions and to provide you with additional information; we are posting several
PDF files for your review. Please take the time to read my letter to Robert Bendorf and Martha Wilson regarding this matter which is
posted as a PDF file. When you attend one of the membership meetings, you will
be given a ballot when you are checked in. It is not necessary, for you to
remain at the meeting during the questions and answers and/or discussion
regarding this important matter. We
ask that you consider all the facts before making a decision.
Sincerely,
Gary Stucky
Executive Director
