a.       It was reported that in Social Services vacancies are not being filled.

 

b.      An all staff meeting may take place on Friday, May 15, 2009 of which more information may be given out as to whether a new Director of Child Support Services has been selected.

 

III.             Pay for Performance with Distinction Report by Committee

Staff reported that the Committee was comprised of Executive Director Gary Stucky, Business Agent Marie Clark, Terry Barber of Child Support Services who represents the General Unit and Ray Hogan of Fleet Management who represents the Supervisorial Unit.  The Committee is reviewing the different standards that an employee may be able to receive the Pay for Service with Distinction.  Longevity and Incentive may need to be two different ways to receive PFSWD.  Someone suggested that the money be put into deferred comp.  Someone else thought that the Supervisors need to be trained on how to do an evaluation.  There was discussion of how some Lead workers do supervisorial work, but do not have the title of Supervisor.  They do the work, but are not paid the additional money for this work.  Some employees have problems with Lead workers doing evaluations.

 

IV.              Report of May 2, 2009 Media Workshop

Executive Director Gary Stucky and Business Agent Marie Clark attended the media workshop. Staff explained that the use of television cable media for brief well focused message is cost effective and can reach a large volume of the public.  General Manager Larry Edginton will monitor what messages are for cable media.  The Union needs to respond to all negative messages.  We need to be pro-active.  Staff stated that we have notes from our meeting if anyone is interested.

 

V.                 Sutter Wellness by Dr. Nick Yphantides tonight, flyer available

A flyer was handed out to this program.  Anne Westlake reported that she had attended one of Dr. Yphantides program and it was very informative and enjoyable.  She suggested everyone try to attend.

 

VI.              TCSIG Insurance Report-no rate increases

Staff reported that there will be not rate increases for the 2009-2010 year.  There is money in reserves so the rates aren’t going up.  An informative article is in this month’s Union newsletter.

 

VII.     Bulletin Board Update – Office Manager Anna Anderson will report on which Bulletin Boards she has updated and which ones need to be updated. She will also hand out material for the Bulletin Boards.

Anna reported that she updated the bulletin boards at Social Services, Fleet Management, and Building Maintenance. Pete of the Assessor’s office would like a small bulletin board. Maria of the Jail will check to see if there is a Union bulletin board there and then back to Anna. Anna also gave an authorization form to Sam Leach from Probation for a bulletin board at their location.
